Unlike Liberty, the only tangible benefits you get while you're opening the tree and filling it (if at early game, the time it's most relevant) are faster shrines and more faith from Shrines and Temples. The science can also increase happiness in the game I think, it’s just not a bonus for taking that social policy route. If you’re going for that, it’s priceless. 🙂But as a game mechanic I get it.I can actually see why Rationalism wouldn’t increase happiness in the short-term, though, since you have to work for your answers.Also, Rationalism allows your society to enter the Golden Age, while Piety makes you enter the Dark Ages.
