The tip you add in the app goes to the courier or delivery driver. If you have groceries delivered from Whole Foods, you are no longer tipping the shopper. In theory, a tip is supposed to reflect on the quality of service, and if you receive terrible service, then, yes, you may want to lower your initial tip amount.

However, you don’t have to tip at all. Those drivers usually pick up multiple orders to delivery in succession. There is only one way to test that theory and that is for all tipping to stop.
