Does that phrase capture the biblical concept of God’s love?\r\n\tBefore he created the world, God knew that he would send Christ into a sinful, wicked, twisted, bent, and broken world to die for our sins. As an artist (I’m using that term loosely) myself, I hate it when people perform theological surgery on art without trying to understand the creator’s intent. But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. Gods planning and organisation is always perfect.
Deliberately substituting himself for us. It’s a more artful way to say, “your love is so far beyond my comprehension that it seems reckless to me.” I suppose you could argue that the song could mislead people into thinking that God doesn’t know what he’s doing, but I would trust most listeners to understand otherwise.Reckless is definitely not a word for the love of God.
That’s how I feel. God’s love also resembles a reckless love because whether or not we will turn to him, we still don’t deserve it. Jesus knew that the wrath of God was going to be poured out upon him and that part of this suffering would include being crucified by his own creation. And because we know that God didn’t spare his own son, we also know that he won’t withhold any good thing from us.\r\n\tHe knew that Jesus would scream, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”And yet he still went to the cross. But I need to have a stand in what I believe. No, it’s so much better than that. He is utterly unconcerned with the consequences of his own actions with regard to his own safety, comfort and well-being” It is the source of all things good. For me personally, when I praise God, I praise Him for His characters, His love and His attributes and what He has done in our lives. These are all words used by finite human minds to express the greatness of God’s love. Reckless is a negative word (see below definition). Does that phrase capture the biblical concept of God’s love?\r\n\tThere’s a massively popular worship song right now called “Reckless Love” by Bethel Music’s Cory Asbury. God does not love us blindly—we are fully known yet fully loved. This is biblical. Just because everyone is singing and it has a good tune to it doesn’t mean it’s right about God.The reason why you read in 2Samuel 24:1 that “God made David think it was a good idea to count the people” and in 1 chronicles 21:1 that “Satan rose up against Israel and incited him to take a census of Israel” is because in the hebrew culture whenever God allows something to happen for them it’s like He “causes” it.
