In this buying guide we’ve rounded up all the current interchangeable lens cameras costing over $2000 and recommended the best. With all the focus on its video features, it might be easy to forget that the Sony a7S III is also a stills camera.
Life is good in Fujifilm world. The close up haze seems pretty normal for older lens designs. The improved specs of 2.36 MP (X100F) to 3.69 MP (X100V) promised a decent quality shift I was looking forward to. The biggest difference I see is with the WCL installed. There is some difference in the relative 'height' of the film boxes, but it's within 2-3mm (<1/8").We don't have access to a TCL tele converter to check, but given the improvements in image quality in the close focusing range of the X100V's lens, we would not be surprised if it gives similarly superior results on the newer camera, especially for portraiture. The new lens seems to be an improvement which will make it test better at least - perhaps that will improve sales, but I doubt most X100 users will really find it much better in practice. This is with CA correction toggle unchecked in ACR. Here are our first impressions using it.I think Barney will explode if there is one more comment on where the damn focus point was ...Especially #3, how about everyone's thought? Why is it that I only learn about significant shortcomings of a camera after it has been discontinued? The probability of that happening would be rather slim. ... NEVER! The X100V is the first in the series to feature a weather-sealed body, so when harsh weather hits, you can continue to shoot with confidence. The Fuji gets great looks automatically under any light, while it takes more fiddling as conditions change with my DSLRs.At 6 FPS: JPEG: 220 frames, Lossless compression RAW: 21 frames, Uncompressed RAW: 18 frames. This setting uses the mechanical shutter all the time, only working in electronic mode if the shutter speed needs to go above the current limit of the mechanical shutter.Medium: 2,160 Ã 6,400 (vertical: 6,400 Ã 1,440).Rated 16.9 oz. The physical features, like the tilt screen and weather-sealing, are also certainly appealing but, again, won’t affect every photographer. While ideally we'd be showing you a portrait here (currently impossible due to the quarantine measures) we hope that this scene should serve as a reasonable proxy. But the X100F was already a product of small iterations and improvements that made it feel very refined. Otherwise their colors are much more muted than other brands when you try to set them for vivid colors as I prefer. Fujifilm claims although the battery is the same NP-W126S in both cameras, the X100V can shoot 350 frames when using the electronic viewfinder, and 420 frames when using the optical viewfinder per charge.
On the green bush, roughly in the middle of the scene.UllerellU just remember (especially here): an argument without evidence can be dismissed without evidence, so if a Troll just lazily writes "untrue", "lies!", or similar, don't reward them by responding with a wordy post. Please note that for the purposes of easy comparison against the X100F in the slider below, the 26MP images from the X100V have been downsampled to 24MP and both examples are shown at ~50%.
I never shoot at defaults. At ISO 51,200 even the numbers and hands are starting to disappear.Super-sharp close-up at f/2, and fill flash works brilliantly indoors!Uncompressed or losslessly compressed 14 bit RAF raw.Menus always start at the top; if you wait more then a moment to go back into a menu you have to find it again from scratch.I've greatly exaggerated the falloff by shooting a gray field and placing these on a gray background; it will not look this bad in actual photos of real things:By ISO 12,800 the minute marks are mostly gone.If these 600 × 450 pixel crops are about 6" (15cm) wide on your screen, then the complete image printed at this same extreme magnification would be about 42 × 62" (3.5 × 5.2 feet or 1.05 × 1.6 meters). The X100V's graticules are generated electronically with the OLED.Because the interchangeable-lens cameras use a focal plane shutter they can't sync flash any faster than 1/250, so their built-in flashes rarely have enough power for daylight fill and thus give inferior results unless you also lug a big shoe-mount flash. The front dial is ignored when setting flash mode or Q screen items; only the back dial works. Its frame lines compensate for both parallax and magnification at close range.10 FPS: JPEG: 81 frames, Lossless compression RAW: 18 frames, Uncompressed RAW: 18 frames. The lens has a stepper motor that hums softly as it focuses. I have not drawn 3 aces in a card came for a long while. I’ve ordered just yesterday a new X100F at a good price, but I’m still uncertain, if a M6M2 with ef-m22 wasn’t the same in weight and size with the advantage of adding a 35/1.4 in the pocket.
Probably the most important change is the addition of a second aspherical element, which Fujifilm claims increases corner sharpness, and greatly improves image quality at close focusing distances at wide apertures. I used to have that combination and it was met with great success, however it lacks an OVF and the compactness of the M over the X100 is not so relevant to me. rule of thirds or more for portrait focus).
