Even with the app, it's still a lot to keep track of and can be a bit much but I'm sure itd be fine. Still plenty of dice to roll, treasure to grab and monsters to slay. Posted Thu Dec 12, 2019 9:18 pm; QuickReply ; QuickQuote ; Reply ; Quote [+] Dice rolls; Mikael Nygaard . Perfect if thinking is your thing. Have not played Descent but my friends did and they S&S is superior to it.EDIT Thank you all! Unless you want a bucket of nice minis for d&d, the game is just not worth it.My recommendation would be Sword and Sorcery - I had blast playing it solo.
Do you think Gloomhaven is a good solo experience? So I would jump right in to Gloomhaven if your resources are finite but if you've got cash to burn the Descent would be my pick for the most intro-friendly dungeon crawler.Descent with the app has random missions with the delve. All are good, the delve is great and can kick you in the nuts sometimes.
The gameplay is severely lacking. From the opinion of people here I think I'll exclude MD then.Massive darkness though, I simply cannot recommend it. Do you have any we haven't mentioned? It was fine but nearly as complex as Gloomhaven with none of the depth and you have to drop a lot of cash for a complete campaign.Massive darkness was a complete bust for me.
Denmark.

I've been watching some playthroughs of gloomhaven (mainly by "Rolling solo") and it is growing on meDescent is a lovely intro level game and the road to legend app gives you a solid co-op experience. Skip to main content. Home of cool minis, great games. I can’t remember if it’s a paid add-on or not. And from the options here Descent would probably be the best pick.I'm playing gloomhaven solo now and it's been great so if you want to, jump right in at that level. The fact that it gets pretty repetitive during the campaign only sealed the deal for me. Massive Darkness is a series of one off missions that you can string together as a campaign if you so chose. !there's no real need for a stepping stone, just go straight to Gloomhaven.Im a huge fan of all 3 games here. It all depends on what you are looking for in a gameI've never played Massive Darkness but for whatever reason it doesn't interest me.Massive Darkness is a total meh - felt like playing talisman. Now i know none of these are realllly dungeon crawls, but its rare for a boardgame to get it right. Mass Effect 3 is a Role-playing Game (RPG) / Third-Person Shooter hybrid set in a Science Fiction universe.
Havent had a chance to try it.Descent is a fantastic game but I would recommend Sword & Sorcery over it.Unpopular opinion coming: Gloomhaven <sigh> I can't recommend it, sadly.
Because if you're looking for a dungeon crawler, Gloomhaven isn't one. I imagine I'll play Massive Darkness again sometimes just for the different mechanics, but if I had to choose to play only one over the other, I'd go with DMD for sure. CMON tried to appease the KS backers by adding a tacked on campaign mode and ended up with both an unbalanced campaign mode and scenario mode. A campaign is not necessary at the beginning but I could consider one later on. Your destination for all things CMON and exclusive content for the gaming community. The "campaign' is tacked on, and while I dont think its bad, its still short. The app has 2 modes; one where it spawns a random multi-level delve using the tiles and monsters that you own, the other are themed campaigns FF releases from time to time. But if you like solving abstract puzzles, you should go for it.I did not like Sword and Sorcery, and found it a little limiting. More looting?
This time, a couple of friends played with me, and overall they enjoyed the new rules better than out of the box Massive Darkness. App takes care of a lot for you making it easier to solo.Descent 2nd Edition on the other hand is a great dungeon crawler, with tons of content and with an extremely good app to play solo or cooperatively.
An important distinction though is Gloomhaven is NOT a dungeon crawler. Still a good game for what it is, but a dungeon crawler it is not.Thank you. To that end, I am going to change the rules to require 3 clues instead of 5 AND remove a tile.
I'm seriously considering it. But to really make it shine you have to have the base game plus an enemy box or two. The minis are awesome but there is really very little game in the box.For a solo dungeon crawl you cant really beat Descent 2nd plus the app. All Styles. I like the mechanics but after playing a few scenarios it becomes pretty evident that each scenario is actually a puzzle and that's where the fantasy dressing falls apart. Its the kind of game i like because it doesnt require much thinking, you throw a bunch of dice and you get to see a story unfold in front fo you.
Wow thank you.. after having read yours and other replies I'm just considering Gloomhaven now. Completionist. Massive Darkness» Forums » General Subject: Is this good for lighter gamers?
